The Barangay in Davao Oriental is responsible for the main road maintenance works.
The maintenance of a concrete farm for the marketing of the PHP 52.2M with a 45-metre concrete bridge now falls under the responsibility of Barangay Mikit in the city of Baganga as part of a pioneering Community Road Maintenance Programme (CBRM).
The Davao Oriental Governor, Nelson L. Dayanghirang, at the ceremony of the launch of the CBRM program, said that entrusting responsibility for maintenance to the barangay "will ensure the sustainability of the completed project as it allows the community to take care of its own. "For the first time, the responsibility for managing an infrastructure project is entrusted to the beneficiaries. This will give them the opportunity to participate in maintaining the projects entrusted to them," Governor Dayanghirang said in a statement.
The CBRM programme is based on the agreement between the Provincial Government and the AD and the World Bank on joint management.
Engineer John Christopher Algallar of the Provincial Engineering Office said that the program saves the Provincial Government Davao Oriental from the need to mobilize resources because "it will pay the barangay for maintenance, which in turn can generate the barangay to generate additional revenue".
